Multi-hazard joint probability distribution model for wind speed, wind direction and rain intensity

Multiple disasters such as strong wind and torrential rain pose great threats to civil infrastructures. However, most existing studies ignored the dependence structure between them, well effect of direction. From dimension engineering sector, this paper introduces vine copula model joint probability distribution (JPD) speed, direction intensity based on field data in Yangjiang, China during 1971–2020. First, profiles studied area are statistically analyzed, original rainfall amounts converted into short-term intensity. Then, marginal distributions individual variables their pairwise structures built, followed by development trivariate model. The results show that constructed copula-based can characterize Meanwhile, JPD characteristics speed significant variations depending direction, thus cannot be neglected. proposed will conducive for reasonable precise performance assessment subjected multiple hazards actions.
